Abstract The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between game-specific attendance in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) and the presence of recently admitted expansion member Winston-Salem State University in games during the 2007 football season. Attendance during the 2007 regular season will be used as the dependent variable. Furthermore, this paper will develop a predictive model which includes game, team, game-day weather and university specific factors that may likely influence game day demand for Winston-Salem State University as a MEAC expansion member. A demand model for attendance during Winston-Salem State University’s inaugural season as MEAC member will be estimated using OLS and fixed-effect regression analysis. The results will provide evidence on whether Winston-Salem State University as a conference member has a significant influence on demand on football attendance.
