In the last ten weeks, we explored canonical American and some relevant European and Asia artistic developments in painting, sculpture, performance and video art, and mixed media from the aftermath of WWII to the end of the twentieth century. In our theoretical and (art) historical inquiry, we interrogated the ideological and stylistic significance of difference, including its codification, dissemination, and exhibition. Discuss critically the issue of difference in terms of race, class, and gender, referring to theories( i.e., Semiotics, Deconstruction, Psychoanalysis, Feminism, Marxism, minimalism to post-minimalism,etc.) or criticisms for three different chapter readings(i.e. Abstract expressionism, pop art to neo-pop art, minimalism to post-minimalism, performance art, conceptual art,public art, etc.) AND providing three supporting evidence( i.e., artists and their works under the categories of Abstract expressionism, pop art to neo-pop art, minimalism to post-minimalism, performance art, conceptual art,public, Postmodern, New Technologies, etc.) to defend your argument. requirement: an introduction bearing a clear thesis, a body of supporting evidence, and a thoughtful conclusion to address the issue or questions raised below.
