Criteria: Identify the woman you are interviewing, why did you choose this person? Why is she inspirational to you? Talk about this woman’s life (experiences), etc. When and where was she born? Discuss the social climate of the era she grew up in. Put it in a historical context. What is her occupation? Is she involved with the community? If so, how? Discuss why and how she came to identify as a Chicana? What are her accomplishments, successes, and points of interest? Identify her struggles and instances of discrimination based on race, class, gender within society and within the culture. Are there instances of oppression faced by this woman? What barriers or struggles were encountered with family, if any? Besides family, how are other relationships negotiated? In this essay, you are to incorporate themes, concepts, ideas, theories, etc. that have been discussed throughout the course this semester. The **Please be specific in the details of the interview. Make sure that after you have written the account you double check with the interviewee, so as to avoid misrepresentation of words and/or ideas. ***You may include other questions and information for this assignment but the above criteria must me met and fully addressed. Consider construction of identity, naming, historical contexts, and significant representations important to the interviewee and how that has informed the woman’s present identity. The objective of this final paper is to synthesize information learned in the class by applying it to a real life situation (interview) and incorporating it into an academic paper, along with your original ideas and arguments. You are required to interweave this information with the topics, articles, and presentations discussed in class to further explore the formation of identity. If identity is a construction or myth explain how this idea plays into our lives and the life of the interviewee.
