Assignment 3,000 words (+/- 10%) Imagine you are asked by a youth offending team (YOT[1]) to explore sentencing of the young people that are dealt with by the YOT. They are particularly interested in whether gender and ethnicity are relevant in sentencing outcomes. Design a questionnaire that will obtain the following data:- Identifier: A unique identifier that maintains anonymity of the young people Asset score: this is a numerical score that measures risk assessment of offending. Scores in the local YOTS are in the range 0-50. Higher scores indicate high risk Gravity: this is a numerical score indicating the severity of the offence. Scores in the local YOTS are in the range 0-8. A high score indicate a severe offence Age Gender Ethnicity Custodial sentence: ie. The young person has a custodial sentence or they do not Data for these variables is in the data file on Blackboard associated with this assignment. You may want to look at this to help you design your questionnaire. The YOT believe that custodial sentencing may be more common in Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) groups. Your job is to write a report based on their data to explore this issue. What you should include is:- A research question and associated hypotheses A short literature review outlining some of the issues involved. A discussion of the methodology you will employ to answer the research question An analysis of the data Recommendations How you write this report is to a large extent your decision, but as a recommendation you could write roughly equal amounts on the literature review, methodology, results and analysis. You should use some of the methods covered in the quantitative component of this course to address this question. You will be marked on the quality of your review, appropriateness of your methodology, accuracy of your analyses and relevance of your recommendations, While the report needs to be evidence based and rigorous, remember the readers will be practitioners, albeit educated to graduate level at least. Thus you need to show the evidence behind your recommendations, but also make clear what the “big picture” is
