Each student will select a regulatory agency at either the federal or state level to exam in-depth. Students, through research and interviews with agency officials, shall (1) determine what the regulatory functions of the agency are, (2) how the agency interfaces with the public, other agencies, lawmakers, and those who they regulate, (3) what statutes the agency operates under, and (4) significant regulatory issues and problems the agency faces. Where applicable, text and lecture concepts should be related to the actual operation of the agency. Academic references will enhance the report. The paper must be a minimum of 10 -12 pages long, not including front and back matter (i.e. table of contents, abstract, and references, all of which must also be included). Papers will be graded based on methodology, content, style, organization, and writing mechanics.
