While there is there is a strong public support for wind power at the local level there has been controversy and opposition to specific projects. Determine the underlying factors infulencing support and opposition to wind farms, and address possible solutions to overcoming these. Previous studies have found physical, conceptual, socio-economic, social, local and personal aspects that shape public perception and most studies only describe these perceptions rather than explain them. Incorporating place theory and place attachment could go beyond descriptions and offer explanations of wind farm perception.
