choose a current issue of pastoral concern in your church and write a brief desscription and critique of how the church is responding to it using EITHER biblical OR historical ORtheological materiel to justify your own response and proposals for action. (ADVICE:This essay my begin with a pastoral problem presented by a person or persons in your ministry, or with an issue of pastoral organisation or practice faced by your church. You should discribe the issue briefly (i.e. in one or two paragraphs), then offer an assessment and criticism of how this it is presently being delt with by the church or by you. The essay should then draw on the christian tradition in some way to seek new insights. Note EITHER/OR/OR! You will not have space to develop more than one perspective, so choose to do either biblical work, historical work or theological work to justify your own proposals for how to handle the pastoral situation you have chosen. Biblical work means examining some texts in detail with the use of commentaries, NOT just quoting texts. State at the BEGINNING of the essay which perspective you are using.
