Discuss the issues raised by this statement, and explain how far you agree with the points which it is making. Advice on answering Question 1: Precendent To answer this question, you will need to analyse the quotation so that you can identify and deal with the issues it raises. You will need to explain what the doctrine of precedent is and how it works, and comment on the role which it plays within our legal system. You will also need to give a personal opinion on how far you agree with the points which it is making. Question 2: Statutory Interpretation Discuss the rules of statuary interpretation. Explain how helpful you think they are to lawyers. This question is concerned with the rules of statutory interpretation, and you will need to explain what the rules are and how they are used. Note that you will also need to express a personal opinion in relation to how helpful you think they are to lawyers; your opinion must, however, be supported by relevant evidence.
