I am writing a scholarship application with a paper on my goals and early childhood educational experiences. I need the paper to be know more then 300 words and no less then 250 words, this is a big deal for the application it tells me no more then 300 words. I have a few ideas in mind and theses are they. Once children reach school age, they start spending more time with their teachers than with parents. This means that teachers aren’t just imparting an education; they’re affecting the emotional, intellectual, and social development of each student they encounter. The poet William Butler Yeats once said, “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire. “ And, indeed, by giving kids the knowledge and skills they need to succeed as adults, by urging then to pursue their dreams, and by impressing on the joy that comes from a lifetime of learning, teachers can be virtually limitless in their capacity to touch lives. Considering that on average teachers affect 3,000 kids over the course of their career, the ripple effect of even a single teacher’s impact can be astounding. With 35 years of work, with children of all ages, I am planning to build upon my foundation of experience. I will continue my work with Umatilla-Morrow County Head Start as a teacher Assistant. In my educational career I am sketching my Bachelor’s Degree with Eastern Oregon University, in Early Childhood Development. I wish to give my time and talent to young children in church and the special needs of the ARC. Lastly, I will chart my masters in Education at which time I will have the knowledge, combined with experience in order to fill the pails and light the fires of the children of my community.
