Select a controversial issue on which two or more points of view exist. Write a four-to five-page essay (title page, two-to three-pages of text, and a reference page) in which you take a stand and argue for or against this issue, employing the techniques of argument you learned from your reading. You must conduct research to obtain information to support your personal point of view on this issue. Conduct a search using the ProQuest database in the Ashford University Online Library as well as the Internet. (To use the ProQuest database, click the Library link in the left menu of the class.) Prepare your essay in APA style, as shown in Ashford Guide for Academic and Career Success or The Little, Brown Compact Handbook, and cite your sources in proper APA style in the text and in a reference page at the end of the essay. You must use at least two outside sources in this essay. This paper represents your personal opinion on an issue, so it should be written primarily in first person (I, me, my, etc.) Don’t forget to follow the steps of the writing process to create a first draft, revise and edit the draft, and then prepare a final version for submission.
