Esperanza replies, “Fine, I will take the children to the picket line tomorrow.” This demonstrates a shift in power and confinement of Victorian codes of female conduct. Investigate the social and cultural implications of the film in your analysis. All ideas should come from your viewing and analysis of the film. Ask yourself the following questions to clarify your thesis: What exactly am I arguing about this film? Why is this an important point? Which details support my main point? Why? What started me thinking about this topic? Are there any contradictions to my thesis? How can I account for them? The paper should include an introduction, you may briefly summarize the film, give background information (possible something we have discussed in class), introduce the characters, etc. ? The second part of the paper should deconstruct the scene (i.e. dialogue, music, costumes, action, etc.) What is happening in the scene, here you may use quotes, what is important about the scene. ?
