This is a research paper of comparing and contrasting two art works (Architecture) from two different styles for Art History. My topic is about comparing and contrasting between Church of Hagia Sophia, Constantinople (Istanbule), Turkey in 532 – 37 and Dorm of the Rock, Jerusalem, in 687 – 692. Could you please include following important points of an Art History image with the similarities and differences into the body paragraph; I) Identity – What the title is, What period and style it is, and who is the artists or the artist unknown. II) Cultural Context- Where it was made, What was valued in its culture or community, How the society was organized, What achievements this community made, What the role of art was and the artist in this society was, and What historical events or people relate to the image. III) Style – 1) Description - What it looks like, How big it is, What it is made of, What are its formal characteristics such as light, line, color, composition, etc., It is abstract or naturalistic or both, and It is idealistic or realistic. 2) Analysis of style – What the origin of its style, the style is original, borrowed, or a combination of both, there is a purpose in its style, and how it is symbolic of its cultural context. IV) Function relates to cultural context – What it was used for, it is religious or secular, Who the patron was, it is for private or public use, it is a work of political propaganda, and What massages or symbolism it is meant to communicate.
