REQUIRED: You are to write a report to your line manager focused on a Plc quoted on the London Stock Exchange. You may chose any company you wish but are advised not to consider banks, building societies or insurance companies. You should access the latest possible set of financial statements. There is no need to submit the financial statements with the coursework. The Report should be divided into the following sections SECTION A: Introduction and discussion of the concerns expressed about the use of published financial statements. (The focus of your discussion should be the purpose of financial statements as outlined by the Companies Act and Conceptual Framework.) 30 Marks SECTION B: Identify and explain two specific areas in the accounts where alternative valuation is permitted by UK GAAP. You should discuss the impact on the financial statements of these alternatives. (Two only to be discussed) 30 Marks SECTION C: Identify and discuss an area of uncertainty which may not show up in the accounts.
