I have to make a 1 page comment from this post in my class'' discussion board: I thought this was an interesting read which discussed four strategies for effective BPM and SOA using rules technology. While the overall concept sound fantastic, I wonder how practical this solution is. For example, on page 4, a scenario is described where an insurance company has two underwriting applications as a result of an acqusition. One application is based on the mainframe and other one is based on .NET. They describe that each application uses different rules, logic, and calculations for underwriting but they need to get consistency and standards accross both platforms and applications. They propose a solution to externalize the business rules, logic, and calculations using SOA which will solve their problem. Wow, if an SOA can do that, sign me up. Has anyone had experience using SOA technology?
