there has been a growing trend in health care today to measure leadership success by an organization’s performance through efficiency and effectiveness. in the private sector measures such as profits, earnings per share, costs per unit produced, etc. can be objectively measured. in health care, as we have seen from the literature, objective measures are more difficult to develop. from the reports we have studied it is somewhat apparent why performance measures such as those used by ontario’s wait times strategy have been put in place to indirectly measure leadership. the readings have indicated the public believes health services can be more efficient and that service waits are too long. as a result, federal funding commitments and provincial policymakers has focused attention and resources on reducing wait times for particular conditions as a way to show leadership in improving the publicly funded health system. using the resources indicated below (and other research as warranted). 1. discuss the key challenges imposed on hospital leadership by using the ontario’s wait time strategy as a key measure of leadership. this should be discussed in the context of selected leadership models transactional leadership and transformational leadership. 2. analyze the extent to which ontario’s wait times strategy exemplifies effective or ineffective leadership in healthcare? what is good about this measurement system in evaluating leaders and what is not? tie the paper together with a good introduction that clearly states your argument and a conclusion that succinctly summarizes your main ideas. include proper apa referencing. make sure to link your analysis to leadership concepts ensure that you follow the paper’s formatting requirements. references use the following resources and another recourses chsrf, (2005) myth: a parallel private system would reduce waiting times in the public system, mythbusters location: http://www.chsrf.ca/other_documents/publications_e.php 1.
