outline abstract – an in-depth look at what is a learning organisation, and see if knowledge management and strategy fall with in it? stage two: take a look at a particular case studies in the uk market, and critically review it which are in action today and those that have recently ceased in action. ask questions: is he managing organizational knowledge as a strategic asset? are organisations using knowledge in the in the hopes of a becoming learning organisation (lo)? what can small business make use of to become a lo. title – a critical evaluation of small business in south wales, uk, and analysis of its use knowledge management and modern technology. is it a learning organisation (lo)? background – the current working title is from an informal interview with the managing director (md). the md is seeking the approach of modern technology approach to his business but is lost about where to start. a process of brainstorming and associating ideas, was chaired by myself in consultation with the md. this session was analysed by our scribbled notes and muddled thoughts into the shape of a relevance tree to help decide our course of action. where does knowledge management (km) fit in? where did km stem from to where it is now? what is the relationship between km and a lo? the next step is ask the question where does one start? maybe take a look at what the business is doing and how? therefore by break down of the key elements and looking at them, and find some intriguing answers, are they all inter-related? as well as analysing literature the md realised there will be analysing of the business and its processes involved in this project to find a new future maybe? equivalent small businesses will be looked at, subject to confirmation in various locations (wales, england, ireland and the usa) look at the use of the investors in people programme as a possible resolution to implement a universal standard in a learning organisation (http://www.investorsinpeople.co.uk/pages/home.aspx) Some References: -Senge, Peter M.
