Written work shows superior level of research, insight or understanding of the subject; written in an appropriate style, well organized, virtually free of grammatical error and at an intellectual level commensurate with or above his/her year in school and the level of the course. Term Paper: • The term paper. Each student must write a 1,250-word paper on the subject specified in the schedule (1,250 words of text in the minimum length requirement). You may include an additional page, but do not exceed six pages in the total paper. The paper must include at least two (2) outside written authoritative sources (not Wikipedia) on the particular subject of the paper. Written submissions will be graded on organization, substance of content, APA format, and in particular, English usage. Acceptable format for Papers: 1. Cover page/other pages. Use a single cover page that contains only: (a) the title of the paper, (b) your name, (c) HRA549 and (d) due date. Balance the contents both horizontally and vertically on the page. No other font or back cover pages. The student must include page numbers. 2. Margins. All page margins should be the default margins for your word processing program. 3. Font. Use either 10 or 12 font only. 4. Page numbering. Use the APA page numbering format. 5. Spacing. All papers must be double spaced only (this also means double spacing only between paragraphs). The standard exception is a direct quote. Check the Dianna Hacker handbook for the APA reference style to determine how a direct quote should be presented in the paper. 6. Reference Style. Use ONLY the APA (American Psychological Association) reference style. Refer to the Dianna Hacker book shown on the syllabus. Please be consistent throughout each written assignment. (Extremely Important) 7. Direct Quotes. Direct Quotes must not exceed 15% of this paper. A student must extend the length of the paper if there are excessive quotes (over 15% of the content) in the HRA549 paper. 8. References. A student must include a separate Reference page with each paper (APA style). Sources used to develop your paper must be included in this section.
