Identification of an area of prfessional concern: - a brief, clear statement of the prinicpal focus of the study. - an outline of the organisational context and/or theoretical framework within which it is to be place. - why this is important for my college Jusification of this as appropriate to my work - aims - what am i aiming to achieve - undertake prelimary research by discussing the area concern with colleagues -provide an explanation of how the purpose of the study are derived from or are related to your professioanl activities. -set out briefly the aims of the study - these must be clearly worded. - by having a basic skills tutor introduced she it made a difference. Selection of a strategy for undertaking the study - indicate the information that you need indicate the research methods i intend to use. Questionnaires, interviewing head of school, interviewing basic skill tutor and literature review. Questionanires were given out to 50 engineering students and 20 members of staff. Justification of this as approprate to the study - the study must be in field of engineering e.g motor vehicle students and Fabrication and Welding students of education and training and , normally related to my working environment. I deliver all key skills to these students who do not have good literacy and numeracy. Some students have one to one support to help them and some student do not. Recently a basic skills tutor has been introduced into the college and an initial assessment is undertaken before they start their course to see if they need support. The years before a lot of students slipped through the net and did not get tested. These stduents found it hard not having the extra support. -give reasons why the strategy i have choosen will help to achieve the aims of the study.
