In it the student will pick one western and one non-western civilization and address the role each played in the global conflicts of the 20th century (the two world wars and the Cold War) to include the impacts of the conflicts. In addition, as part of the essay, students will include a primary document and a visual source (similar to the mid-term paper) for each civilization as part of their supporting evidence. Students will further reflect on the likely sources of tension and conflict for the two civilizations in the 21st century. This last part is more reflective and is intended to give students an opportunity to consider the ways in which the crises and concerns of the present are rooted in the past. Note: I will also need a visual (Pictures) for this assignment.
