Part 1: - Topic: Choose a specific topic related to American History that interests you. This will be the topic of your project. The project may take the form of a written report, but may take a different form if approved by your teacher. Enjoy this opportunity to be creative. SUBMIT YOUR RESEARCH PAPER TOPIC OR OTHER TOPIC IDEA TO THE TEACHER FOR APPROVAL. Part 2 - Thesis and Outline : Once your topic is approved, you should submit your thesis and outline. An outline is a point-by-point skeleton of your future project. Your outline needs to follow a specific format.Review the following websites to get an example of what you outline should look like and the information it should include- Purdue Outline and Factmonster Outline. Part 3 - Rough Draft: Once your outline is approved, the next step in this process is to write a rough draft following that outline. The rough draft must be at least 1500 words long, and must be written in your own words. Use proper English grammar and complete sentences. Compose the rough draft in a word processor program and edit it before submitting your work. Every source that you used for your report must be listed at the end of the report, and cited within the text of the report. At least three information sources must be used for the project. Give titles and authors for books, URLs for websites, and names and contact information for personal communications.
