Abstract: This paper will research the modern and historical data on the documented involvement or lack thereof of local politicians with the local Baptist church: both positive and negative claims will be presented. This researcher will chronicle such accounts as campaigning in the church, soliciting support from church members, public endorsements by pastors, biblical pros/cons of this involvement, and evaluations and reviews of past and present church leaders. Additionally, this researcher will solidify the need for the design and implementation of after school programs specifically designed for low achieving youth; and that the bonding of political leaders in the local Baptist church with the Pastors of those churches is necessary for the program’s success as well as its longevity. This author’s premise is that local politicians should consistently involve themselves in the local church in order to substantiate the need of the Church’s support as well as add credibility to the political process.
