Report Format: Maintain the report format by stating the question or category and then responding to it by developing it with your findings. Fully develop each specific area below. Report Format Guidelines are posted in the Course Content area of the web classroom. Use headings for each section and subheadings within each section. Fully develop each area to show your understanding of the subject matter. Include a cover page and document your word count on the cover page 1. Introduction: 10 points a. A purpose/ statement – you should clearly establish your assignment’s objective b. An overview of the company including their current mission statement and their URL Show that you know the difference between a mission and a formal mission statement. You should have two bibliographical references on this company to legitimize this information c. The name and title of your contact person and the date of the interview 2. Analysis of the organizational culture: This section should show your understanding of organizational culture. The information must be obtained on site. (30 points) a. Evaluate the strength or weakness of the culture. Be specific – refer to the text and develop this area fully. b. Describe and give examples of stories and rites or ceremonies practiced by this organization to establish cohesion among its members. c. Discuss some of the organization’s symbols, design, specific jargon and how these relate to their culture. 3. Ask the following questions and get specific responses from the human resource person contacted. (this section will be incorporated into your team project) (30 points) a. Describe the three most significant factors you consider when selecting from qualified candidates. Do not describe qualifying characteristics such as skills, experience etc. Instead, probe for more subtle factors such as personal attributes. Be specific and include, traits, and fit as these pertain to your selection process. b. Describe the three most critical factors that would eliminate a qualified candidate in the final selection process. Be specific and include knock out factors such as specific traits, replies to interview questions etc. c. Describe your worst candidate from real life experience and why you would not want to hire this person d. Describe your best candidate from real life experience and why you would consider hiring this person. 4. Summarize (30 points) Analyze this experience and relate it to management theories learned. Discuss the practical aspects of the research and relate to relevant course material such as diversity issues organizational culture and recruitment to fit the culture etc. Reflect on what you learned from this project? Discuss and be specific. Important information: Your project should include two credible sources from background research conducted. The report format should be followed and all errors – grammatical, spelling etc should be edited out before submitting. Late papers receive a 10 point penalty for each day late. All assignments need to be submitted into the term paper portfolio. Do not attach your assignment. PASTE it into the portfolio. Attachments will not be opened and will receive a penalty for incorrect submission. Your project needs to be on a company in your chosen industry as reflected in your team industry.
