1.Differentiate between personal ethics & professional ethics related to the following essential values: A. Altruism – behavior motivated by concern for the well being of others and that is intended to benefit others B. Freedom – the absence of interference with the sovereignty of an individual by the use of coercion or aggression ( in the nursing profession this refers to autonomy) C. Truth - The meaning of the word truth extends from honesty, good faith, and sincerity in general, to agreement with fact or reality in particular. ''truth'' involves both the quality of "faithfulness, fidelity, loyalty, sincerity, veracity", and that of "agreement with fact or reality" D. Equality - refers to the idea of equal treatment E. Human Dignity - refers to a state of righteousness, integrity, or virtue in human beings. The term dignity is defined as "the state of being worthy of honor or respect" F. Esthetics - is commonly known as the study of sensory or sensori-emotional values, sometimes called judgments of sentiment and taste. More broadly, scholars in the field define aesthetics as "critical reflection on art, culture and nature. G. Justice – referred to as fairness and refers to the obligation to treat cases similarly. It looks at the concepts of fairness, justice and entitlements. 2. The ethical concept of truth in regards to plagiarism. 3. At least 3 of the 5 pages devoted to how and why plagiarism could lead to ethical dilemmas in the modern practice of nursing, how it can lead to liability exposure including lawsuits, payment of monetary damages, loss of license for both the nurse and the institution they work for; how it can lead to job termination; and most importantly, how conspiracy or cover-up could lead to criminal penalties, fines and possible incarceration (all within the nursing field).
