When you''ve read through the articles and supplemented them with whatever parts of the Background Readings that you find helpful, please compose a short (ca. 5-7 page) paper on the topic: "Whose criteria generally govern a requirements analysis? Is this a good thing? Whose voice(s) should dominate the development process?" In preparing your paper, you may wish to think about such issues as: • How do either Ambler''s "agile" analysis or Reddy et al.''s "socio-technical" analysis differ, if at all, from the standard procedures for requirements analysis found in the literature? If there are differences, from what sources do they arise? • Are Ambler''s and Reddy''s prescriptions for modifying the requirements analysis process the same, or do they differ in some ways from each other? • Webb''s article of "political determinants" was in fact composed over 20 years ago. Clearly some of the technical aspects of his paper are outdated, due to evolving technologies. Does this render his conclusions about system design and content irrelevant, or are their aspects of his critique that still resonate through the process? Are there threads of his analysis to be found in either or both of the Ambler and/or Reddy critiques? • Are there things to be found in the Background Readings or in any other material you''ve located that sheds further light on these issues? • What do you conclude about requirements analysis? Who should do it? How? What is its place relative to other parts of the systems design and development process?
