Heart Disease and Stroke Statistics Updated 2008 Shows that African American women still have a higher rate of coronary heart disease ( 7.8%) than White females (6.0%) and Mexican females ( 5.3%) has the lowest overall rate based on the statistical figures since 2005 from the American Heart and Stroke Association. When it comes to Strokes African American females again has the highest rates (4.1%) with Whites following with 2.7% and Mexican with the lowest of 1.9%. African American rates could be higher because we are stressed out more trying to maintain immediate families with much larger extended families that we try to help take care of and with a number of African American households they are being ran by single mothers which puts a lot of stress on the heart which contributes to heart attacks and strokes. Another factor is African American females cook and eat with a lot of fat which also is bad on the heart and contributes to the high statistics. Iran reports 30% rise in HIV infections in 2007. 1592 of the infected people developed AIDS and 2800 died. The main cause of infection is intravenous drug use (80.8%) and sexual contact accounts 11.9%. 93.7% of the infected are male. I think this is a really bad news that so many people lose lives and most of them got infected by drug use. What''s worse and more sad, more poeple in rich nations today use drugs and this actually has increased the number of HIV infected in the developed countries.
