The paper should be in essay format(not a research paper) and should take a look at newer, Web 2.0 technologies such as social-networking sites, wikis, blogs, etc. and how these technologies have changed writing and communication. Some important characteristics the essay should display: Focus on a specific writing technology, take a historical perspective, measure the impacts of technologies and judge extent to which they are good or bad. In examining impacts consider the affect on one or both of the following: society in general and individual cognition. Include references to other essays. Engage in "conversation" with other scholarly work. The paper must include a well-developed, original, clear thesis, explain complex ideas clearly, have strong references and support, be well-organized, answer all questions it sets out to answer, and still leave areas for exploration—and know this.
