Item Final Paper Final Paper Focus Select one of the issues that was covered in this class. There were six topics that we covered during class, one each week. Pick a topic that you find relevant and write a paper in which you: 1. Summarize the main issues in this topic (for either a K-12 or corporate environment). 2. Apply this information to a real world scenario. For instance, you can describe the way a school or organization can address this topic in planning, policy, training, etc. Choose an application of the topic that you find relevant to your work and interests. 3. Find at least five (5) scholarly journal articles using the ProQuest database that provide supporting information on the topic. Reference these articles in your paper. Writing the Final Paper The Final Paper: 1. Must be eight- to ten- double-spaced pages in length (excluding the title and reference pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the approved style guide. 2. Must include a cover page that includes: a. Student’s name b. Course name and number c. Name of paper d. Instructor’s name e. Date submitted 3. Must include an introductory paragraph with a succinct thesis statement. 4. Must address the topic of the paper with critical thought. 5. Must conclude with a restatement of the thesis and a conclusion paragraph. 6. Must use APA style as outlined in the approved style guide to document all sources. 7. Must include, on the final page, a Reference Page that is completed according to APA style as outlined in the approved style guide. Final Paper Objectives 1. Synthesize course material on major issues in technology and instruction. 2. Apply knowledge gained from the course to educational and/or corporate environments. 3. Articulate and support your ideas. 4. Select and reference scholarly articles that support your ideas. Organization of the Final Paper Your paper should have the following sections: 1. Title – Give your final paper an appropriate descriptive title 2. Introduction – provide background on the topic you have chosen to write about 3. Body of paper (create sub-sections relevant to your content within the body of the paper) – Refer to information you have learned during the course and through course readings as well as through outside resources (cited appropriately). The information should provide support for the objectives and strategies included in the paper. Remember to include: a. Background on the scenario you will apply the issue to b. Discussion on how you will apply the issue c. Support fro scholarly articles you have found for this paper 4. Conclusion – synthesize what you have stated in the paper and reach a conclusion B range: The paper is reasonably clear, focused, and well supported; ideas are adequately developed through details and examples. Organization and form are appropriate, and ideas are generally presented coherently. The voice of the writer contributes to the writer’s meaning through appropriate and varied sentence structure and word choices. Surface features do not interfere with understanding or distract from meaning. The writer has clearly brought the reader through properly cited academic constructs and experiential documentation, but has not fully developed the area of critical analysis. C range: The paper has some focus and support; ideas and content may be developed with limited details and examples. The writing may be somewhat disorganized or too obviously structured. The voice of the writer is generally absent; basic sentence structure and limited vocabulary convey a simple message. Surface feature errors may reduce understanding and interfere with meaning. The content areas of academic constructs are limited and large generalizations are made. Critical analysis is all but absent from the paper. D range: The paper has little focus and development; few details and examples support ideas and content. There is little discernible shape and no direction. The writer’s tone is flat. Awkward sentence structure and inadequate vocabulary interfere with understanding. Limited control of surface features makes paper difficult to read. Critical analysis is absent, and segments of the paper are given to rambling descriptions of life experience without academic context.
