For this project, you will select a topic that you are interested in pursuing for your dissertation or that you are interested in learning more about during your doctoral studies. You will then create a proposal for a quantitative research project with most of the elements that are required of the university dissertation proposal. Specifically, like the university dissertation proposal, the elements you should include in this project are: • The problem you are planning to investigate. • Its importance and the limitations of your proposed study. • A review of related research pointing out areas needing more research. • Your research design. • The hypotheses you seek to test. • The methods that you will use to develop new knowledge about the subject. One component will naturally build on another. Remember, though you may eventually choose to conduct a qualitative or mixed-methods dissertation, for the purposes of this project you must complete a research proposal for a quantitative project. Not only will the final project prepare you for writing your dissertation proposal, but the process can and often is used to address a real-world problem relevant to your profession and career goals. Project Requirements To achieve a successful project experience and outcome, you are expected to meet the following requirements. • Parts of a research proposal: All components of the research proposal are submitted as a finished product. • Written communication: Free of errors that detract from the overall message. • APA formatting: Resources and citations are formatted according to APA Style and Formatting guidelines. • Number of references: Minimum of 15 references, of which five should be peer-reviewed journals. • Length of paper: 10 typed double-spaced pages. • Font: Arial, 10-point.
