He or she will begin problem investigation by articulating an understanding of the problem. It is this problem focus that becomes the topic to research. Topic and Problem Statement:Clearly articulating the purpose of the study and conveying the signifigance of the problem by describing why the topic is worth researching is the main task in Section 1. Section 2: Literature Review The literature review,although preliminary, needs to be through the purpose of the literature review is to uncover and become acquainted with the exsiting body of knowledge on the problem you are studying. The style of the literature review for this proposal should consist of the folowing 2 components: 1.A complete bibliographical citation in APA style for the source you have examined. 2. A critical analysis of the research article or publication. Teh analysis should include the critera used in the & quot;Article Critique Exercise & quot; exercise assigned in session 1 it should include descriptions of the conceptual level, the operational level, and the emprical level. The review should be completed with an explanation of what found valuable in the content. An example would be if the operational level used a particular research methodology that you found interesting and possibly useful in your own action research problem. Section 3: Methodology and ethics Methodology is simply how you intend to gather, analyze, and report the relevant data and how you intend to justify your research activities. The first criteron to address is your school setting and participants. The setting is a Detroit Public School, Priest Elementary is a urban K-5 school located at 5901 Casper Avenue Detroit,MI 48210.The school services 971 students, and 51 educators and 3 administrators. Student ethnicity includes 268 white American Students, 291 African American Students,399 Hispanic Students, 11 Asian/Pacific Islander''s 2 Native American /Alaskan Native. Average student/teacher ration is 19.0 students per teacher. priest Elementary has an very active & quot;LSCO & quot; Parent Organization.District financial information suggest that 8.9% of households earn less than $14,500 per year and 10% of households currently earn between $15,500 and $ 29,000 annually. 12.7% of families earn between $30,000 and $48,000 annually. Very few families earn over $50,000 a year. The research will be conducted in a single classroom Pre-k or K ( The classroom and grade will be determined at another time and date.Room #104-A at Preiset Elementary School. Ms.J. Buendia,building Assistant Principal has approved this research for the Second semester of the School year 2009-2010 school year.(Exhibit A). Additonally, parents will be informed and consent will be obtained for minor child participants(Exhibit B). Section3: Methodology and Ethics. Methodology is simply show how you intend to gather, analyze, and report the relevant data and how you tend to justify your research activities. Section 4: Plan of Implementation and time line. I would like to have a timeline of 8 to 12 weeks Starting Feb 2009--May 2009 The articipant in the study willbe 4- to 5 year old students in a pre-K or Kindergarten classroom setting.
