The paper (600 words approx) is to be on the movie, The Believers (1987) starring Sheen. It has to be written from a distinctly religious (Christianity, please) perspective (ie. not a movie review, etc.). The topic in mind is as follows: The movie is based on the “voodoo cult” Santeria and is depicted as just that, an evil cult up to no good. However, what makes Santeria evil simply because it’s different from what most people believe? It’s a widely practiced “cult” in some parts of the world (South America). They [Santeria followers] do not do any human sacrifices in the movie (so that’s a misconception). Comparing Santeria to a popular Abrahamic religion, such as Christianity, we need to look at the differences between the two (using the film of course), and be able to conclude if the general public is justified in labeling Santeria as an evil cult based on these differences. Again, the paper has to be written from a religious point of view based on the movie, and not simply stating what took place in the movie. It should be critical and analytical, instead of just a movie summary.
