Requirements: 1) Prepare a formal full-sentence outline for a four to six minute speech using proper APA format and documentation. 2) Make sure your outline contains all of the necessary components. 3) Your outline should conform to the principles of outlining. 4) The outline should be double-spaced and typed. 5) All tabs should be properly and consistently aligned. 6) Use complete sentences and use only once sentence per point/sub-point. 7) Make sure you include a bibliography containing at least six sources using proper APA format. 8) Cite four of the sources from your bibliography in your outline using proper APA format. Additional Guidelines: 1) If you have difficulty discovering a topic then I suggest that you look for a topic by scanning magazines or newspapers. Examples are: Time, Newsweek, Popular Science, etc. (These sources are available in the Rollins Library.) 2) You have a variety of options on how to present your speech: a) you may present a speech current to the period of the article, i.e., what were the issues of that day and what is your opinion of how they were viewed then; b) you may provide an updated perspective, a kind of historical overview of the issue as it was presented then and how it has evolved to the present and how the issues have been changed or modified; or, c) you may research back to the origins of the issue and discuss how they have changed from the beginning until the publication of the article. 3) Remember that this is only a four to six-minute speech. As such, you will have to treat the topic in broad terms, particularly if you are taking a historical perspective, unless there is a single significant issue that will allow you to concentrate on more specific details.
