The purpose this assignment is to allow you to identify a topic of particular interest to you in the field of short-term financial management, and to investigate this topic in some depth by writing a paper about the topic in “term paper” format. You are responsible for locating the articles you use to learn about your topic, and for deciding how many articles are needed to review the topic thoroughly. Your paper should constitute an investigation of a subject, not be merely a serial condensation of a variety of articles. It should gather, assess, and synthesize information and drive to a coherent point (or associated series of points) or conclusion about a specifically defined narrow topic. The paper you submit should be between 15 and 25 pages double spaced using 12-point Times New Roman font. The report must have a cover sheet identifying the topic and you, a list of references shown on a separate page at the end of the report, and be paginated. Source materials must be from respected academic or professional publications (not inundated with Wikipedia citations or similar “sources”), such as may be found using Proquest (ABI/Inform) or kindred article databases. The report must not place primary reliance on articles in popular business magazines (e.g., Business Week) or newspapers of general circulation. It must be in “term paper” format that is footnoted or includes in-body citations shown using an accepted method.
