the research paper o the research paper for this course will consist of the preliminary stages of a professional research manuscript: develop a topic and conduct and write a literature review on the topic. the paper should be structured as follows: & amp;#167; title page (1 page): includes a title, your name, my name, and the course & amp;#167; abstract (1-2 paragraphs): a brief summary of your argument. it provides the reader with a quick and dirty overview of (1) the purpose of your paper, (2) your basic argument (i.e., thesis statement), (3) your findings, and (4) your contribution. & amp;#167; introduction (1-2 pages): has four essential features: (1) a general introduction to the topic, (2) statement of the problem, (3) your statement of purpose, and (4) your thesis statement. & amp;#167; literature review (5-9 pages): a review of the theoretical and empirical literature on your topic. the literature review allows you to develop the argument you presented in the introduction and support it using previous research. & amp;#167; work cited: a list of sources cited throughout your paper. conducting your research o you must use six or more academic journal articles for your research paper. o you must use only academic journal articles. to alleviate any confusion about what constitutes an academic journal article, i am requiring you to collect your research only from “jstor (the scholarly journal archive)”. jstor is a database of reputable academic journals. the database even separates the journals according to academic discipline. therefore, you will only use the journals listed under sociology. o pellissippi provides access to this database through the online library. to be clear, the database is exclusively online. therefore, you can access it from the comforts of home, at work, or from you’re local coffeeshop (assuming it provides internet access). here is the link to jstor on the pstcc website: http://lcmspublic.pstcc.edu/library/articles/dbaz.php#J.
