Please follow these guidelines when developing your proposal: 1). All proposals must be type-written such as word-processed in MS Word or WordPerfect. A handwritten proposal is not acceptable. 2). Please provide a cover page which includes the following: • Your name • Address • Phone Number • Student ID number • Email address • The degree you are pursuing • The date of submission • Title the page with “HCA Proposal” 3). Please use 1-inch margins when completing your proposal. 4). Please be sure to number all pages as specified in APA format (use header feature) 5). Please follow the structure/format for writing your proposal: • Executive Summary - provide a 2-3 paragraph summary which generally describes what your dissertation or project will entail. • Title - provide a descriptive title for dissertation or project Examples: The Influence of Organizational Policy on Employee Morale Client Sensitive Services: Cultural Factors in Health Care Delivery Project: A Model for Contract Laboratory Services • Format - Please detail the format/structure you will be using. If you will be conducting research, please note the type of research such as Experimental, Exploratory, Qualitative. If you are submitting a project, then please detail the structure. For example, submitting a completed handbook on samples of Specialty Services Orientation and Precepting. • Be sure to make a copy of the proposal for yourself. Proposals that are submitted to the instructor will not be returned to you. • All proposal evaluations will be emailed to you. FORMAT FOR DOCTORAL PROPOSALS: 1). List each chapter of your dissertation as shown below, and provide a 2-3 paragraph overview of what you will include in each chapter. 2). Chapters Should follow this format, or something similar to this format as listed below 3). Please remember, this is a proposal. You are NOT writing or completing your project or dissertation at this stage. You can be brief. We are not looking for quantity in the proposal, but rather, quality. 4). It is expected that proposal will be anywhere from 5-15 typed pages (average range). 5). Timeline - provide a short time line for completion of your dissertation and an estimated date of submission. Proposal Chapter 1 – Introduction, or Problem Statement In this chapter you will provide a general introduction to your dissertation. You will briefly discuss your topic, including why this is a needed area of further research or project endeavor. You will state any Hypothesis that you will be testing. You will state what you will attempt to confirm, discover or augment in your dissertation. Please state what you will attempt to achieve and provide a list of goals or intended applications for this dissertation. Proposal Chapter 2 - Review of the Literature In this chapter you will briefly discuss what types of literature you will be reviewing for your dissertation. List some texts books and or journals that you will using, and any unpublished data that you intend to use. Proposal Chapter 3 - Methods In this chapter you will discuss research methods that you will be using. If you are using research tools, then describe the tools, what they will measure, where you obtained them, etc. If you will be using surveys, then describe the types of surveys you will be using. If you are doing exploratory research, then this chapter may be waived. Also, describe the population you will be doing research on, and whether you will need any consents for this research. Proposal Chapter 4 - Findings For proposal purposes, just mention here if you will be using statistics, tables, graphs, and so on to assist in your findings presentation.
