It will be graded on the basis of the quality of your discussion of the topic (see below) and writing (e.g., citations, completeness, clarity, and writing mechanics – see below): 1) Discussion (30 points): • Briefly state your research topic. It is often helpful to express it in the form of a question - what exactly are you interested in researching? This paragraph will be the first paragraph of your paper. (One paragraph – 5 points) • Then summarize the contribution of the references on your topic. What did the articles conclude about the topic? You will probably want to state the research purpose, method, and findings for each study you review. For example, what types of people were studied? Also, how might the types of the people studied affect the conclusions? Finally, address other limitations of the study/article. (This part should be the main body of your paper – 20 points.) • Summarize what you have found out about this topic from this review, in a concluding paragraph. (One paragraph – 5 points) 2) Writing (10 points): • References: Cite the articles you use. Citations in the text will look like this: (Author''s last name, year published) [for example: (Chee, Pino, & amp;amp;amp; Smith, 2005)]. All word-for-word, direct quotes should be put in quotation marks and followed by the author’s last name, year of publication, and pager number in parentheses [for example: (Chee, Pino, & amp;amp;amp; Smith, 2005, p. 605)]. Direct quotes of more than three lines are discouraged given the short length of this paper assignment. If you summarize, in your own words, the phrases or ideas of another person, you do not have to use quotation marks, but you still have to cite the source, by indicating the author’s last name, year of publication, and page number in parentheses. Be sure the reference list includes author, work, and year and gives enough information that a reader could find the source. An example is given below: Chee, Kyong Hee, Nathan W. Pino, and William L.
