Written dissertation plan: should aim to formulate a workable set of ideas and draft set of plans towards the dissertation. I should have a good idea of the theme and topic of your dissertation, why you want to study this topic, the possible sets of methods involved and whether they fit the question(s) you wish to ask in the dissertation. You should also consider whether the project is manageable for a one-person study with no resources other than (limited) time, library and Internet sources, and your own intellectual skills. You are therefore asked to address the following issues in the two page research plan - Project working title + key question(s) - aims of the project - significance of the project - research plan, methods and techniques - research timetable (plan of month by month activities) - Preliminary literature search and bibliography. 2. How the topic shapes or determines your methodology and method(s); 3. Whether more than one methodological approach is appropriate for your chosen topic; 4. The theoretical framework to be either drawn on, tested or explored; 5. Research methodology – what kind of data are you collecting and then analysing, and why? 6. A discussion of methodological issues in terms of the politics and practices of research.
