Choose a culture (not Vietnamese, and not the dominant American culture) that interests you, and analyze it according to the values described in either Hofstede’s value dimensions or Kluckhohn’s value orientations, or some combination of the two, and Hall’s high- low-context model of communication in your analysis. As part of the conclusion of your paper, you should discuss what an American needs to know about that culture’s values in order to communicate most effectively with its members. Research your work in your textbook, the library and/or on-line, and be sure to document your sources. Do not use articles from newspapers or popular magazines, except to document specific cultural behaviors; try to use scholarly sources, including Hofstede, Kluckhohn, and Hall.
