July 5, 2009 Becoming a Practical Nurse One of the reasons why I would like to become a nurse is because I want to be part of the healthcare industry and make a difference in people life; to be able to treat patients, as well to comfort them. My mom had an elderly boarding home in my teenage years. I was exposed to patients that were blind, handicap & others that were perfectly fine, just needing a little attention. That experience just made me even more interested in becoming a nurse. Another reason that I would like to be a nurse is that the Human Anatomy fascinated me. How the systems work together becoming the perfect machinery amazes me. For example, increased skeletal muscle activity increases movement of the gastrointestinal tract. This helps in the digestion and break down of the food we eat to then be able to extract the nutrients that will travel into a cardiovascular system. Some of my strength are that work best under pressure, I am a team player as well as can be a team leader. I have the capability of multi-tasking. I am able to be hands on and control problematic situations by reaching to resources that have been provided to me as well as to my colleagues with different strength and abilities than mine. One of my weakness is that I am very self critical. I always think I could have done better. On my leisure time I like to spend it in the outdoors with my family. One thing that gave me great satisfaction is when I purchased my home. All odds were against it but hope and faith pulled through. I have been living in my home for almost three years now. I would be honored if I am elected for this program. I will put forth all my efforts in all the requirements that are needed to be successful in completing this course. I promise my complete dedication in becoming that person in the Healthcare Industry to make a difference.
