After listing author, publisher, and date, summarize what you have read as if you were the author boiling down the book into 500 tight words (stay very close to this word count). Prove that you comprehend the readings by writing a no-nonsense summary. The abstract is not a commentary or listing of topics, but rather a gut-deep, insightful `précis` of the longer, more elaborate book. Abstract equals boiled down. There is no citing in the abstract. Consider yourself the author. You are ‘telling’ “your” book in a capsule form. DO NOT say things such as “The author said”, or “I agree with the author”, etc. In fact, don’t mention the author at all. Also, do not say things like “Readers will enjoy this book.” The abstract IS NOT A COMMENTARY. You are not putting your stamp of approval on it. Remember, you are the “author” so to speak. 2.Concrete responses. Get vulnerable! In 250 words (stay close to the word count), relate a personal life episode that this book triggered in your memory. Relate your story in first person, describing action, quoting exact words you remember hearing or saying. In the teaching style of Jesus, this is a do-it-yourself parable, case study, confession.
