Assignment Strategy The assignment will give students the opportunity of demonstrating:- • An appreciation of the value of entrepreneurship and associated innovation outcomes for economic renewal and rejuvenation in a variety of organisational contexts. • Recognition of different types of innovation (product, process, organisational, strategic, and transformational) and assess their importance at different stages in the industry, market, and organisation life cycle. • Application of relevant concepts of emergent strategic management theory, based on evolutionary ‘bottom-up’ strategy, organisational learning, and knowledge management. • Recognition of their own propensity to tolerate uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity surrounding successful innovation and be able to modify their own patterns of management behaviour and those of others to achieve innovation. Task: Individual Task: 3,500 words excluding appendices, submitted in both hard and electronic copy. Write a report, demonstrating your module understanding and learning:- 1) Critically evaluate your country’s national system of innovation, commenting on factors that negatively and positively impact on its development, past, present and for the future. 30% 2) Using the resource base view of the firm as a basis for understanding entrepreneurial management, appraise the management orientation of the organisation in which you work and the type and level of innovation achieved (or not as the case might be!) 50% Please ensure that you cover the following points • knowledge generation and transfer for organisational learning • impact of industry, market and organisation life cycles • the way the organisation is strategically managed 3) Critically assess any involvement you may have had in the introduction of an innovation in your work context with a view to identifying how matters might be done differently in the future.
