To do this, you need to gather three to five sources to use. There are a variety of places in the library (both electronically and onground) that you can go to gather this information. Don’t rely solely on websites (and make sure that they are credible when you do use them). You’ll find much better sources if you look through the library’s electronic databases. For literature, I would suggest Expanded Academic ASAP, Magill on Literature, and JStor as good starting places. You are welcome to use any of the articles I posted on the Article Summary assignment page as well. I would encourage you, for example, to find out things about the author—if you are able to use it to further your discussion. Do not, however, simply present a history of a writer’s life. It’s only analysis if you use the biographical (and autobiographical) information to extend, develop, and illustrate your position about the work or works you are examining. I would also encourage you to read other works by the author. If, for example, you decided to write about Robert Frost, you could read through some of his other poetry in order to get a better sense of what his poetry is all about.
