Most of population is working class, in the past mainly mining industry. He school has 106 pupils. Almost half boys and half girls all white. One statemented – Russian and one polish requiring special help with English. The school had four classes: class 1(induction/reception or year 3), class 2 (year 4), Class 3 (year 4 and year 5) and Class 4 (years 5 and 6). The age range of the school is from 4 to 11 and all but one are female teachers. The design of the school is such that the Hall is in the centre with classrooms running off along two corriders. The computer suite is located next to and in front of the hall. The SEN room is next to the hall and in between the hall and the reception class. The hall is used mainly for indoor sports and assemblies. The school being Church of England prayers are said in assemblies and also sometimes in classrooms. The reception class is located to one side of the hall, Class 2 and 3 are located through a corridor and down the steps next to the cloak room/area; class 2 is straight in front with class 3 to the left. Class 4 is located down some steps and down a corridor. Just after these steps is the dining hall with tables. As you enter the dining area and enter the hall the Head teacher’s room is in front and next to it to the left is the staff room. If you continue down the corridor class 4 is located at the end. In class 4 year 5 and year 6 are combined, as are class 3 year 4 and year 5. Differential work/task s are set for different ability groups within groups All rooms are well equipped with resources i.e. books, pens, etc. The timetable is split into two sessions’ morning (9 – 12.20) and afternoon. (1.15 – 3.30). Morning session mainly literacy (9.10 -9.40) –numeracy 11.00-12.00) and with other subject links i.e. science.
