You have been tasked with: 1) making initial contact with the Chinese manufacturer 2) establishing common goals, and developing a joint working relationship 3) solving any problems that may emerge within the first five years of this partnership Your organisation understands the value of establishing good relations with your potential future supplier , and the MD is worried about the communications implications of working with the chineese. Consequently he has asked for an initial report of the foreign language requirements, and your recommendations as to how these can best be met, over the first five year period of the proposed relationship. TASK: You are to undertake an analysis of the FL (foreign language) requirements, at each of the stages of the process of business relationship development. You are to specify how these requirements will be best met by the company and give reasons to support your suggestions. STRUCTURE OF ANSWER: As business relationships develop in various stages, you must present your work in the following format. PART A: Identify the probable number of stages in the development of relationship, and major objectives behind each stage. PART B: Briefly outline the main variables involved at the each of the stages , and rank them in order of importance – providing a justification for your chosen rankings. PART C: Focus on the FL requirements at each of the stages, justify your choice of requirements, and suggest how these can be best met by your company in terms of training, recruitment ,outsourcing etc. PRESENTATION: 1) You should present your findings in the form of an academic essay in three parts, not exceeding a total of 3000 words excluding references. 2) All references should be presented alphabetically at the end of the essay, using the Harvard method.
