For the organisation(s) selected, you should collect a representative corpus of texts from the communication texts produced by that organisation(s), e.g. logos, mission statements visual material, annual reports, and internal newsletters. You should then conduct a detailed interpretation of these texts using semiotics, rhetorical analysis, discourse analysis or an intercultural approach, attemting to relate the textual analysis to a critical assessment of the communication of the organisation. Comparative studies of two organisations are possible. The number and type of texts selected should be sufficient to enable a critical assessment of communication in the organisation to be made, but not so numerous that only a superficial reading of the texts is possible. Depth of interpretation of the texts is the primary criterion. Selected texts should be attached as an appendix to the work. Example of some topics/approaches - but these are only suggestion - the choice is up to you: * comparative semiotic analysis of corporate logos/branding strategy - IBM & Apple * semiotics analysis of brand as ''myth'' * rhetorical analysis of corporate annual reports * discourse analysis of internal corporate communication; discourse formation, control, discourse shifts and conflicts (e.g. religious discourse/business/market discourse) * semiotics analysis of corporate web sites * corporate symbolism (e.g. globalisation, technology) ** this should be written in report format, contains contextual information about the organisation(s) selected and reason for the selection of texts, detailed analysis of the texts and an evaluative discussion.
