My thesis is about tracing the origins of domesticated cattle through the use of mitochondrial DNA as a genetic marker. It should begin with an introduction leading onto a literature review including:PCR and Contamination, Agarose Gel Electrophoresis, Mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA) and ancient DNA(aDNA) studies, Hapogroups and Cattle, and Domestication of cattle. My thesis must also include an in depth detailed methodology about the procedures and techniques used in DNA analysis, focusing on Agarose Electrophoresis and PCR and then taking these techniques and applying them to 3 or 4 case studies where both modern and ancient DNA were successfully amplified, using tables, diagrams and pictures where necessary. The next section of the thesis is a discussion and finally a conclusion. As this is an archaeological based thesis, the conclusion sholud outline how DNA analysis has revolutionized the world of archaeology and how it can be used to understand the evolution of domestic animals.
