The assignment will be based on students demonstrating their understanding of the importance of theory, values and ethics to informing good practice in social work. In particular students should demonstrate the importance of and difference between ''formal theories'' of social work practice and ''informal practice theories'' in social work and how these two perspectives impact on contemporary social work practice as well as the use of ethics and values in the decision making progress. In addition, students need to consider the distinction between reflective and routine practice and anti-intellectualism and the impact on contemporary practice.
