This assignment focuses on ethical issues associated with the study of archaeological remains. You are tasked with considering the archaeological work in the fictitious country of Ikwe in southeast Asia. During your work, you become close friends with some of the local, indigenous people, called the Nibi. The Nibi contest any Ikwe authority over their cultural and history, but prefer to work with makes the incredible discovery of an extinct civilization whose technology and science was more advanced than those of any contemporary society. Most importantly, the fossilized skeletons indicate that Homo sapiens first evolved 250000 years ago in Ikwe and not Africa; this is the greatest scientific find ever made. The Nibi strenuously object to any remoral of human fossils from the site. The Nibi elders, who you respect very much, state that the remains are those of crushing and deposition of the ash in rivers. WIthout these fossils, your discovery is likely to be questioned and perhaps vilified by the media and your fellow scientists. Make an anthropological argument for either repatriation or removal for study of the fossilied skeletons discovered in Ikwe.
