Analyzing/Evaluating the Earth First! subculture. What is the basic philosophy, goals, or lifestyle. Do they hope to change society in any way? Are their philosopy, goals or lifestyle admirable or enviable? what ultimate value does Earth First! have? Why people join this group, and does it have a hierarchy or social structure? Do you see any corruption in the group? What makes this community/culture in some way alternative? How does this group challenge the mainstream? Does it successfully do so? Analyze a major figure or figures in this movement as specific example of your alternative community/subculture. How long has this community existed? Have their values changed over time? Have they become a more socially important group? Do you think this community still be considered alternative? Look for different points of view about Earth First! and evaluate/interpret those points of view. If you can find any surveys, studies, or observations about this group, consider using theam and interpreting the findings. Use at least five sources, and at least two of sources should be from an Academic Search Premier. Cite your sources within paper, and include an abstract. Strong paper contain over half of your own interpretation/analysis/evaluation; weaker paper tend to be mostly information, relying primarily on sources. Due next week Nov. 10 at the beginning of class.
