The objective of this dissertation is to develop a structure for environmental compliance in the electronic industry. -The researcher applied theoretical sampling in the electronic companies mentioned above (each referred to as a data set), where a sample is designed to be representative of a population to build the substantial theory of how they comply with environmental compliance. Therefore, the researcher followed two parallel selection processes. Step 1: the researcher used the sample mentioned earlier to increase the diversity of the procedure which will heighten the reliability of research findings. Now, consideration of each of these electronic companies in the paradigm of a life cycle approach suited to their environmental best in practice performance will help the evaluator to locate how each of these companies is achieving business impact through execution of processes involving the following functions ranging from: organizational structure, procedure, auditing and budgeting to partner selection. Step 2: Once this has been achieved, then an examination of the single case studies would take place. The sample companies that have been selected from are conceptually distinct from those in the above data sets. Using single case studies will permit the researcher to find specific biases in the theoretical sampling. Combined analysis from the two data sets collected will give the researcher a framework which can be used by the majority of electronic companies to track their advancements with respect to both financial and environmental sustainability. Q: Where can the investigator access the 2 data sets mentioned earlier? Information for data sets can be obtained from many sources such as: questionnaire survey, in-depth interviews, and archival documents. The researcher did mail questionnaire for a few reputable electronics companies to identify the methods being used to attain environmental requirements. These were prototypical examples of the kind of short-term, tactical requirements that must be met in many regulations. The feedback obtained was accessed to see whether or not the targeted companies were good models of businesses in their sector who were developing long-term solutions to compliance issues. Examination of the product compliance procedures, product development, and innovation processes, experiences, and intentions of those well-known companies across the electronic industry. Responding companies completed a mail survey that included questions designed to determine the importance of improving innovation process, product development, and engineering to their corporate strategies, and the improvements that best-in-class companies are taking to achieving environmental compliance economically. Supplemented by mail survey efforts, the evaluator used telephone interviews with selected survey respondents, gathering additional information and more details on product compliance strategies, experiences, and results. Beyond the above two methods gathering the data sets, I can also obtain data from published sources, company accounts, annual reports, and corporate environmental reports. A case study of each firm by archival documents which is constructed prior to the interview will confirm the reliability of the investigator’s responses. Based on the case study first the investigator can find the general framework to comply with the environmental issues, then apply it by the real data collecting from different companies to see if it is reasonable and reliable, lastly refine it and give some suggestions
