2,500 words This will represent 60% of the total mark for the module SUBMISSION DATE: 4.00pm Thursday 15th May 2008 ASSESSMENT FORMAT/STRUCTURE: Theory, Practice and Evidence in Occupational Therapy – a dynamic trilogy. The purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate your ability to bring together theory and practice, using the experience you have had on placement, and discuss the evidence upon which it is based. You should base your assignment on recent placement experience and critically evaluate the occupational therapy intervention with an identified client or clients. Include a critical review of the literature outlining the benefits and constraints of the selected intervention This should be should be compared to your own experience and illustrated with examples from practice placement. The practical examples should be fully integrated in the text of the essay. Discuss how the intervention was evaluated, critiquing the evaluation strategy, exploring alternative evaluation methods and discussing the effectiveness of the intervention in addressing identified aims. A more detailed case study, (250 words approximately) and the aims and objectives of occupational therapy intervention MAY be included as an appendix and therefore excluded from the word limit. NB "Intervention" can be taken to mean a specific skill, technique or session or even the whole occupational therapy programme with a specific client. You should however, be careful not to make the focus too broad and compromise the depth of your evaluation.
